Fire Department:
VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF
The City of Lebanon is accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Assistant Fire Chief. This individual will serve as the Officer in Charge (OIC) at fire calls and related incidents in the absence of, or under the direction of, the Fire Chief. Responsibilities include overseeing hazardous materials responses at the operations level and directing fire-fighting forces and activities to protect life and property. The Volunteer Fire Chief is directly responsible to the Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief.
Preferred Experience
- Working knowledge of modern firefighting, fire prevention, and rescue methods
- Minimum of 5 years experience (preferred)
Required Education
- PA State Fire Academy Firefighter II Certification, or related field
- Considerable administrative experience or equivalent on-the-job experience
Residency Requirement
Must reside within a reasonable distance of the City limits, as approved by the Mayor and Fire Chief.

Public Works Department:
RECYCLING ATTENDANT (Part-Time):
The City of Lebanon is seeking a Part-Time Recycling Attendant to support the efficient and effective operation of the City’s Recycling Center. This position is responsible for opening and closing the facility four days per week and assisting residents with proper recycling practices. The Recycling Attendant reports directly to the Recycling Coordinator.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist residents in placing recyclable materials into designated containers.
- Control the flow of traffic throughout the Recycling Center.
- Open and close the facility four days per week.
- Maintain the exterior premises by picking up debris, sweeping asphalt areas, and pulling weeds.
- Provide information to customers regarding recycling procedures, acceptable materials, and general operations.
- Remove contamination from recycling containers as needed.
Recycling Center Hours of Operation
March 1 – October 31:
- Sunday–Tuesday: Closed
- Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Thursday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Friday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
November 1 – February 28:
- Sunday–Tuesday: Closed
- Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Thursday: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Friday: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Pay Rate: $16.52 per hour
FALL/WINTER MAINTENANCE (Seasonal Position):
The City of Lebanon is hiring for seasonal Fall/Winter Maintenance positions. Employees in this role perform a variety of outdoor tasks to support winter operations, including leaf removal, clearing debris from leaf piles and drains, plowing, salting, sidewalk/snow shoveling, and post-storm vehicle clean-up.
This is a temporary position running from November through February. Winter-appropriate clothing must be provided by the employee.
Position Details
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (hours may vary based on weather conditions)
- Must hold a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour
