Snow Removal from Some Snow Emergency Routes/Parking Enforcement/General Snow Information

News Date: Monday, January 26, 2026

Snow emergency is in effect as crews begin snow removal from some snow emergency routes....
The snow emergency remains in effect.   Crews continue to cleanup following Sunday's snow storm, including plowing alleys.   Snow hauling efforts on city-owned parking lots will be underway in the near future.   Crews will haul snow from the following streets on Tuesday, January 27 (7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.) and Wednesday, January 28 (7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.):
  • Cumberland Street, from 5th Avenue to 12th Street
  • Walnut Street, from 12th Street to Lincoln Avenue
  • Ninth Street, from Poplar Street to Maple Street
  • Tenth Street, from Maple Street to Poplar Street
  • Eighth Street, from Orange Street to Maple Street
  • Lehman Street, from Lincoln Avenue to 14th Street
  • Third Street, from Cumberland Street to Locust Street
Snow hauling operations will include clean up and salting of the parking lane.  Residents and property owners are encouraged to shovel or blow the snow from the sidewalks into the parking lane in the referenced snow removal areas.  Motor vehicles are not permitted to be parked on the posted streets until snow hauling and salting operations are completed on both sides of the street.   The City of Lebanon will notify the public when parking is permitted via traditional and social media.

During snow hauling operations there will be blowing snow.  Motor vehicle operators are reminded to use caution when traveling in areas where snow hauling operations are taking place.  Motor vehicle operators are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.

Residents are reminded that a path three feet in width, running the entire length of the sidewalk must be cleared from the sidewalk 24 hours after cessation of the storm.  Residents are encouraged to clear an opening and the curb cut to allow access to the street.   We encourage residents to comply with this requirement; however, due to the significant amount of snow, Mayor Capello has extended compliance to Thursday, January 29 at 4:00 p.m.

Residents are also reminded that "reserving" parking spaces is prohibited.  In accordance with city ordinances, no person shall place any obstruction of any type upon the pavement, sidewalk, curb or gutter which will interfere with the complete and full use at all times for the public of such pavement, sidewalk, curb and gutter.

Additionally, residents and property owners are reminded that snow shall not be shoveled or blown into the travel lane of any street at any time.  There will be zero tolerance for this type of activity.

Persons using snow plows and other snow removal equipment shall plow or deposit the snow onto private property as distinguished from public streets, thoroughfares and municipal parking lots.

Enforcement of parking meters and the two-hour free lots at 7th and Willow and 9th and Cumberland Streets has been temporarily  suspended through Friday, January 30.   Enforcement will resume on Saturday, January 31.
